Who Are We?
Our group is composed of students from several different schools at the IDC taking part in the year-long miLAB Human Computer Interaction (HCI) project.
miLAB HCI Prototyping
This track focuses on user experiences in Human Centered Computing in which the interactive experience is designed to provide a solution to human needs even before the technology is implemented. Sample topics discussed in this course: strengthening the bond between family members, encouraging physical activity among teens and connection between people, media and location.
What is miLAB?
The media innovation lab (miLAB) explores the future of media and technology, through collaborative creative processes, characterization of development and design of innovative user experiences that incorporate media and technology to provide solutions to human needs.
Founded by Dr. Oren Zuckerman and Dr. Guy Hoffman, miLAB operates within the confines of the IDC Sammy Ofer School of Communications, in collaboration with the Efi Arazi School of Computer Science and School of Psychology. Working in interdisciplinary groups under the counsel of the faculty, mentors and industry sponsors, students rapidly transition from the conceptual stage to characterization of platform and prototype design and development to pilots with real users.
The 2013 miLAB HCI course focused its projects on a specific theme – urban life. Groups were challenged to come up with an idea offering new HCI possibilities in urban areas.
